About This Place

Located in the heart of Florence, Oregon, Little Brown Hen Cafe is a charming American breakfast restaurant and cafe that delivers a truly memorable dining experience. With a focus on fresh, made-to-order dishes that embody comfort and creativity, this local favorite is a must-visit for anyone craving an authentic, hearty breakfast or brunch.

Step inside this cozy, warmly lit space and you’ll instantly feel welcomed by its inviting, homey atmosphere. Whether you’re settling in for a quiet solo breakfast or a lively family brunch, the ambiance perfectly complements the thoughtfully crafted menu. The aroma of freshly ground, locally roasted Brown Hen Blend coffee fills the air, setting the tone for a delicious morning.

The menu itself reads like a love letter to classic American breakfast with delightful twists. Popular dishes such as the irresistible Chicken & Waffle pair crispy, golden fried chicken with light, fluffy Belgian waffles for a harmonious balance of sweet and savory flavors. For those seeking something indulgent yet quintessential, the Chicken Fried Steak smothered in rich gravy is a satisfying choice. Another standout is the Vegetarian Eggs Benedict, a fresh, flavorful take on a brunch staple that proves this cafe caters wonderfully to diverse palates.

Omelet lovers will find themselves spoiled with options like the Dungeness Crab Omelet—a luxurious combination of sweet crab meat, creamy avocado, and fresh scallions—or the hearty CockADoodleDoo Omelet loaded with ham, bacon, mushrooms, and vibrant vegetables. Each dish arrives impeccably presented, bursting with flavors that remind you of both home cooking and creative culinary passion.

For something a bit sweeter, the griddle fare is a revelation. The Crunchy French Toast—rolled in cornflakes and dusted with powdered sugar—is a texture lover’s dream: crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Or indulge in the Nutty French Toast, decadently coated in nuts and drizzled with homemade caramel sauce that melts in your mouth with every bite. The Stolen Bread French Toast elevates a classic with hidden bursts of currants, golden raisins, and candied orange peel, offering a subtle complexity that surprises and delights.

To pair beautifully with these dishes, their beverage selection includes freshly brewed locally roasted coffee, smooth lattes, and refreshing strawberry or marionberry lemonades. The dedication to quality drinks is evident in each cup, complementing your meal perfectly.

Customers consistently praise Little Brown Hen Cafe for its impeccable service and fresh, hearty food. Tracy W. raves about the burger’s “melt in your mouth goodness” and the thoughtfully prepared salad that sidesteps typical iceberg lettuce for a truly healthy crunch. Lauren Zuiker cherishes the “phenomenal” bacon-infused waffle, returning with family to savor its welcoming atmosphere. Jamie Larsen calls it “one of those cafes you dream about” after enjoying unique items like croissant French toast with chesterberry compote, a dish that’s as adventurous as it is comforting. Ang T appreciates the homemade jams served alongside his toast, while Michael McLaughlin highlights the outstanding gluten-free options and knowledgeable staff.

All food here is crafted with care and a genuine passion for flavor, making every visit feel like a special occasion. It’s worth noting that while the cafe operates on a cash-only basis, Venmo is accepted, adding convenience without sacrificing authenticity.

In sum, Little Brown Hen Cafe is more than just a place to eat—it’s a warm, flavorful experience that captures the essence of American breakfast with an inspired, local twist. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this charming spot promises a breakfast worth remembering.

This is a cute little restaurant in the middle of town I would recommend for a great meal! The food is fresh, fast, and made to order perfectly to your liking. I had the the Swiss mushroom burger and i definitely recommend it! Melt in your mouth goodness. The salad was a nice touch, with healthy ingredients (not the cheap iceburg lettuce passed at most places as a salad) The restaurant was very clean, and had beautiful stained glass windows that added to the comfortable and charming decor. Our waiter went above and beyond , and adjusted my order with perfect accuracy. The wait staff made for a wonderful experience. They only accept cash or check, but there is an atm for travelers with a small $2.50 fee. We would definitely eat here again.

My favorite waffle on earth! I came with my dad and grandpa about a year ago and had to come back. I got a waffle with bacon inside it and it was phenomenal. Also, the service was great. We got seated quickly. Lastly, the atmosphere was really cool. Really authentic and welcoming.

This is one of those cafes that you dream about visiting again! Cozy and clean, amazing food and top notch service! I had the croissant French toast with chesterberry compote (had never heard of that berry before and was pleasantly surprised) and my daughter had the stuffed hashbrowns. Our server was great!

Enjoyed a wonderful breakfast at this little gem of a restaurant. Tried their homemade jams on my toast. Very tasty! Loved their coffee cups, considered buying one, but I found them a bit too expensive.

Fantastic! Great gluten free options and the waiter was very knowledgeable. He told us to avoid links because of the shared fryer but we did the fried patty sausage instead. Delicious meal, good portion. cash only but they accept venmo!

Definitely a busy and yet cozy place! Feels like home. Food is delicious. Service wasn’t totally 5 stars but I know that’s because they were busy. Great place for a breakfast meal! French toast was amazing. Great portions for the price!!

Food = DELICIOUSNESS! Perfect hash browns. Perfect appetizers. Bacon and sausage links were amazing. The biscuits and gravy were a bit lacking. Gravy didn’t have flavor and the biscuits were a bit hard, but the service was great. Staff were very friendly and attentive without being overly attentive. We will for sure come again.
